The Fiji Shark Lab

Ana

The Fiji Shark Lab was established in 2023 by Natasha D. Marosi, Director of Conservation for Beqa Adventure Divers in Fiji and PhD Candidate of the University of Exeter, United Kingdom.

The Fiji Shark Lab (FSL) has filed for Charitable Trust Designation September 2023. The FSL is located in Pacific Harbour, Deuba on the main island of Viti Levu in Fiji.

The FSL is Fiji’s first lab and field station dedicated to the research, conservation and preservation of Fiji’s shark and ray populations and ocean biodiversity. Our mission is to advance our scientific knowledge of sharks and rays; support new conservation measures in support of sharks and rays; provide education and awareness through outreach and public dissemination of results from our field work.

Construction of the Lab was supported by My Fiji Shark and the Global Fund for Coral Reefs, and United Nations Development Programme.
